Softball inks local high school standout Briana Andrews
VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton University softball team has received a National Letter of Intent Briana Andrews (Endicott, N.Y.), a current senior at nearby Union-Endicott High School. She will join the Bearcats for her freshman season in 2008.
As a junior, Andrews was named first-team all-division and fourth-team all state at the shortstop position. Currently, she ranks second all-time in Union-Endicott history for the most stolen bases. In addition, Andrews also plays for the TC Tremors Gold Under-18 Softball Club.
"Brianna is a fast, versatile player, who can play all the middle positions," Binghamton head coach Ali Brian said. "She is going to be a big part of what helps take this program to the next level."
Andrews is the fourth high school senior to sign a National Letter of Intent with Binghamton during the early signing period. Earlier in the week, the Bearcats announced the signings of Kelly Schuldt (Lisle, N.Y.), Emily Phillips (Pickerington, Ohio), Emily Yodowitz (Suffern, N.Y.).
