BU softball loses 3-2 to conference-leading Boston in six innings
Bearcats and Terriers to play doubleheader at noon on Sunday

Box Score

VESTAL, N.Y.-- April Setterlund and Chelsea Kehr each homered, leading first-place Boston University (31-15, 13-3 AE) to a 3-2 win over Binghamton (21-20, 9-6 AE) in an America East softball game on Saturday afternoon at the East Gym Field. The game was shortened to six innings due to rain and the two squads will finish the conference series with a doubleheader on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Setterlund belted a one-out solo home run in the top of the first inning to open the scoring. Kehr made it 3-0 with a two-run homer three innings later.

Sophomore outfielder Jessica Phillips opened the bottom of the fourth inning with a base hit and later scored on a passed ball. Two innings later, senior catcher Deannie Plemon smacked a solo home run, trimming the deficit to 3-2.

In the top of the seventh inning, lightening forced the suspension of the game, which was later made final after six innings.

Holly Floetker got the win for Boston, improving her record to 12-3. Junior pitcher Kristen Emerling was tagged with the loss and is now 7-7

NOTES: Plemon now ranked second in the conference with 11 home runs and first with 42 RBI.
