drop Butler 4-1 ORLANDO, Fla. - Binghamton (2-4) snapped a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fourth inning and went on to a 4-1 win over Butler Wednesday at the Central Florida Spring Fling. Senior Mary Karen Wheat (Brockport, N.Y.) scattered six hits and allowed only a third-inning run, improving to 2-0 on the season. Freshman reliever Katie Hansen (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) pitched the seventh inning to earn her first collegiate save. Offensively, senior third baseman Jennifer Richardson (Wellsville, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and sophomore second baseman Marybeth Yerdon (Lacona, N.Y./Sandy Creek) went 2-for-3. The Bearcats collected eight hits as a team. |
