Binghamton softball by Fordham and East Carolina in Day Two of ECU Pirate Clash

GREENVILLE, N.C.-- The Binghamton softball team ran into some stiff competition in the second day of the ECU Pirate Clash. The Bearcats were defeated 8-0 in six innings by Fordham and 10 in five innings by host East Carolina.
Fordham senior pitcher Sara Kinney tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out seven Bearcat batters in the opener. Offensively, sophomore shortstop Jessica Weckenman went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and five RBI. Her biggest blow was a three-run double in the bottom of the fourth inning that put the Rams ahead 6-0.
In the nightcap, East Carolina freshman pitcher Toni Pasley tossed a five-inning perfect game, striking out six batters in the process. The Pirates plated five runs in each of the first two innings. Junior second baseman Erin St. Ledger went 2-for-2 with three RBI, including a two-run double in the top of the first inning.
Binghamton concludes play at the ECU Pirate Clash in the fifth-place game against Vermont on Sunday at 9 a.m.
