WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Binghamton softball suffered a 3-2 loss to Canisius in the bottom of 7th before falling to George Washington 4-2 on the first day of the Colonials Classic.

"We need to work on putting pressure on teams all seven innings," head coach Michelle Burrell said. "We can't be content with the lead. We also had too many innings with runners in scoring position without putting runs on the board."

Against Canisius, BU led 2-1 going into the final frame, but allowed a bases-loaded double by junior Lauren Hope with one out to end the game.

George Washington put four runs across in the second inning in the nightcap, and the Bearcats were unable to mount a come back, falling 42 to the hosts.

BU sophomore left fielder Meghan Tucker was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and sophomore Kristen Emerling pitched four innings of scoreless relief in the loss to GW.

BU will return to action Sunday, taking on Canisius at 9 a.m. and Army at 1 p.m.
