With the win, the Hawks take two out of three games in the weekend series, which also marked the end of the season for both teams. Binghamton opened the bottom of the first inning with three straight hits off of Stratton. Junior outfielder Sandy Meadows (Buena, Ariz.) singled, stole second and scored on a RBI single by sophomore shortstop Shannon McLeese (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). In the final six innings, however, Stratton allowed only a pair of singles and did not issue a walk. Hartford tied the game on an error in the top of the third inning and used a three-run fifth inning to take command of the game. Sophomore second baseman Rachel Clonick drilled a RBI double and later scored on a two-run single by sophomore second baseman Amanda Dilworth. In the top of the seventh inning, the Hawks took advantage of a pair of errors to manufacture an insurance run. Both teams combined for seven errors and four of the five runs scored off junior Patty Egan (Sierra Vista, Ariz.) were unearned. |
