Binghamton softball splits a doubleheader at Hartford
Suker dominate in 4-1 opening win with 15 strikeouts

West Hartford, Ct. - Junior pitcher Cyrilla Suker fired a complete game three-hitter to lead Binghamton (6-31, 1-16 AE) to a 4-1 win over Hartford (17-19, 8-7 AE) for their first America East win of the season. Hartford won the nightcap 8-0 in five innings.

Suker struck out a career-high 15 batters and allowed only one run in seven innings of work. The rightly also had a fast start out of the gate, striking out the first seven batters she faced.

Sophomore Kelly Schuldt opened the scoring for the Bearcats with a three-run home run in the top of the second. Sophomore Deannie Plemon hit a solo home run in the third inning to cap of the scoring for Binghamton.

Hartford scored their lone run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly.

The second game of the day was all Hartford, as the Hawks scored an 8-0 five-inning victory. Sierra Sheehan pitched all five innings, holding the Bearcats scoreless and striking out seven while giving up three hits.

Amanda Sais was 3-for-3 with one RBI and Ann Kyzer was 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Binghamton and Hartford will play the final game of the three-game series tomorrow at 11 a.m.
