Vestal, N.Y. - Sophomore Kelly Schuldt hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to vault Binghamton (3-12) over Marist (7-15) 7-6 in the first game a doubleheader at the East Gym Field on Wednesday afternoon. Marist won the nightcap 5-4.

In game one, Marist jumped out to a 6-1 lead after three innings, highlighted by a four-run third. Binghamton began chipping away at the lead by plating one run in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to make the game 6-5 and set Schuldt up for her late-game heroics.

Junior pitcher Cyrilla Suker earned her first win of the season on the mound, pitching a complete game and only giving up two earned runs. Junior shortstop Shannon McLeese had a two-RBI single in the fifth and finished the game 2-for-3.

Senior Melissa Giordino was 4-for-5 with two RBI for Marist in the first game.

Marist again jumped out an early lead in the second game of the day, taking a 3-0 lead after the third. In the inning, senior Jessica Green hit a three-run home run.

Binghamton mustered two runs in the fourth but Marist extended its lead on a two-run Kate Malloy home run in the fifth.

The score remained 5-2 until the bottom of the seventh, when Binghamton staged a late rally as freshman Meghan Tucker and senior Sandy Meadows each hit solo home runs.

Binghamton will begin their conference schedule this weekend with a three-game series at Stony Brook.
