Lewiston, N.Y. - Niagara (24-16) pulled out a close 1-0 victory in a doubleheader opener before beating Binghamton (6-34) 6-2 in the nightcap to pull out the softball home sweep on Wednesday afternoon.
Michelle Krier threw six innings and combined with Patricia Kennery to shutout the Bearcats 1-0 in the 80-minute game one.
Niagara only had two hits in the game but got them both in the critical fourth inning when Teresa Healy tripled and then Heather Lorhman drove her in.
Junior Cyrilla Suker took the tough luck loss for Binghamton who outhit Niagara 5 to 2. Suker fanned 10 batters and walked three.
The Bearcats had the bases loaded in the first inning but couldn't plate a run and later stranded a runner on third in the fifth inning.
Katie Gleiser earned the win in the circle in the 6-2 nightcap for Niagara. The Purple Eagles were paced by Kristin Sito (3-for-3, 2 RBI) and Sarah Anthon (2-for-3 2 RBI).
Senior Sandy Meadows was 2-for-3 for BU and accounted for both runs batted in.
Sophomore Deannie Plemon also had two hits for the Bearcats.
Binghamton will host Boston University in a three-game series this weekend as their season concludes.
