Release: February 5, 2009 VESTAL, N.Y. - Head Coach Ali
Brian has announced the signing of three recruits that will join
the Binghamton softball program for the 2010 season. The Bearcats
have signed Shannon Kane (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley),
Rhoda Marsteller (New Park, Pa./Kennard-Dale), and Nicole
Richardson (Fort Worth, Texas, Northwest). Kane plays for nearby Chenango Valley HS in Binghamton and also plays for the STPS Ponies in the summer. As a junior year she received All-STAC honors from her catcher position. Kane is also a New York State power lifting champion. Marsteller is a highly decorated
pitcher out of New Park, Pa. She was named the co-player of the
year for the YAIAA in both her sophomore and junior seasons.
As a junior in 2008, Marsteller had 13 wins in 113 innings with
an ERA of 0.38. As a sophomore, she went 13-2 with an ERA of
0.11 while striking out 171. She has played summer ball for the
Servena Park Green Hornets and the PA Vipers. In 2008 she was
named to the 18U USSSA all-tournament team while playing with
the Vipers. Binghamton will open its 2009 season on February 27, at the Gael Classic, hosted by St. Mary's, in the Bay Area of California. |
