VESTAL, N.Y. - Head Coach Michelle Burrell and the Binghamton softball program have announced the National Letter of Intent signing of Megan McGinley for the upcoming 2010-11 school year.
McGinley is currently a senior at Kings Park in Smithtown, N.Y. The first baseman is batting over .500 and has led the team to its current 19-1 record in 2010. McGinley is a four-time all-conference, league and county player and has aided Kings Park to a league championship.
We look forward to having Megan join us in the fall, Burrell said. Megan will provide us with more power in our line-up batting from the left side. Megan comes from both competitive travel ball and high school teams and we believe that shell be able to come in and make an impact right away for our program.
McGinley has also won the McSloy award and a rookie of the year honor and is a member of the Long Island Bandits summer travel team. She also has participated scholastically in volleyball and track.
Burrell adds McGinley to a talented recruiting class that features five other scholastic standouts that were inked in the fall signing period. BU is coming off its best season at the Division I level and posted a 24-19 record in 2010.
