Teresa Healy and Jen Baker were each 2-for-3 for Niagara (14-7) and Healy drove in three runs to aid the pitching duo of Ali Grab and Patricia Kennery, who combined to throw a six-hitter.
Sophomore Kelly Schuldt hit a solo shot for Binghamton's only run in the game.
Down 2-0 in the third to UMBC (17-9), Binghamton scored three runs in the inning to take the lead on five consecutive singles by Sandy Meadows, Michelle Olivieri, Shannon McLeese, Nicole Constantatos and Schuldt.
UMBC then scored once in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings and shut down Binghamton the rest of the way for the 5-3 win.
Nine innings where needed to decide the game between Binghamton and Robert Morris (10-11). BU was trailing 3-0 but scored three runs in the fifth, highlighted by two doubles by Colleen Whitaker and Stephanie Kolodziejski.
Neither team was able to score again until Robert Morris plated a runner in the top of the ninth, the eventual game-winner.
Junior Cyrilla Suker pitched all nine innings for BU, striking out eight batters, while only allowing one walk.
Meadows was named to the all-tournament team.
Binghamton will return to action on Wednesday for their home opener against Marist in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
