BU softball finishes second at Stetson Tournament
Bearcats fall 4-2 to host team in championship game

Box score: Binghamton vs. Stetson

DELAND, Fla.-- Host Stetson (10-8) scored all the runs it would need in the bottom of the second inning en route to a 4-2 win over Binghamton (2-2) in the title game of the Stetson Tournament on Sunday afternoon. The loss snapped the Bearcats' two-game winning streak.

The Hatters broke open a scoreless game by plating four runs on three hits in the decisive frame of the game. They also took advantage of a Bearcat error as two of the runs they scored were unearned.

In the top of the fourth inning, sophomore outfielder Jessica Phillips homered for the second time in as many games, trimming the deficit to 4-1. In four games this season, she is batting a team-best .545 (6-for-11) with a double, two home runs and four RBI.

Senior catcher Deannie Plemon knocked the Bearcats other run in during the top of the sixth inning on a RBI groundout. Through the first four games, she has a team-high five RBI and has driven in at least one run in three of the four contests.

Binghamton heads to the George Mason Tournament next Friday thru Sunday.
