Binghamton softball falls to Stony Brook 8-0

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Alyssa Struzenberg pitched a one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead Stony Brook (19-3, 3-0 AE) to a five-inning 8-0 win over Binghamton (3-15, 0-3 AE) on Monday afternoon. The game was originally schedule for Sunday, but was delayed due to rain.

Struzenberg, the reigning conference pitcher of the year, faced only three batters over the minimum to move to 10-1 on the season.

Stony Brook's Kendall Blumenthal was 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and teammate Kelsi Fanelli had three RBI of her own.

Stony Brook plated two runs in both the first and second innings and four runs in the fourth.

Junior Stephanie Kolodziejski had Binghamton's lone hit.

The Bearcats will return to action tomorrow at Siena. The first game of the doubleheader is slated to start at 2 p.m.
