Binghamton softball falls to Vermont 3-1

Box score

Burlington, Vt. - Junior Rachel Boone drove in all three runs for Vermont (4-23, 1-3 AE) as they defeated Binghamton (3-18, 0-4 AE) 3-1 in an America East softball contest in Burlington on Saturday afternoon.

Boone was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in for the Catamounts and sophomore Jocelyn Abaray pitched the complete game, striking out six, walking one and allowing only one run.

With the game tied 1-1, Boone drove in her second and third runs of the game with a double in the third inning to give Vermont a 3-1 lead and the score would remain at that for the rest of the game.

The Bearcats had runners on second and third in both the sixth and seventh innings, but were unable to plate any more runs.

Junior pitcher Cyrilla Suker pitched well for the Bearcats, striking out seven.

Binghamton scored their lone run in the second inning when sophomore Deannie Plemon drove in sophomore Stephanie DeLuca on a double down the left field line.

The second game of today's scheduled doubleheader will be moved to tomorrow. The two teams will play two games on Sunday, with the first being at noon.
