Burlington, Vt. - Vermont (6-23, 3-3 AE) took two games from Binghamton (3-20, 0-6 AE) 10-3 and 2-0 in an America East softball doubleheader in Burlington on Sunday. Binghamton has now lost nine straight games.
Shortstop Rebecca Heimbigner was 4-for-4 with three runs batted in to spark Vermont in the opening game. Outfielder Kellin Haley added two hits and two RBI as well.
Binghamton was winning 2-1 in the fourth but Vermont added nine runs over the next three innings to pull away.
Allison Dagget earned the win on the mound, striking out six and allowing only one earned run in seven innings.
Junior shortstop Shannon McLeese was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the opener for Binghamton.
Caitlin Monahan threw the complete game shutout in the second game, allowing seven hits, striking out five and walking none.
Rachelle Boone scored on a Daggett double in the second inning, providing all the run support Monahan would need.
The Catamounts plated their second run of the game in the fourth on their way to a 2-0 win.
Binghamton will next play a doubleheader at Coppin State on Tuesday.
