The Bearcats will feature a four match-slate this week. The squad will travel north on I-81 to take on Syracuse of the Big East on Tuesday night before heading to Virginia for the Marriot Jefferson Cup this weekend to compete against Appalachian State, host-Virginia, and Virginia Commonwealth (VCU). Live stats will be available for all of the contests. Syracuse will also offer live video of the match at the cost of $5.95 for a 24-hour pass to ‘Orange All Access” at

Scouting Syracuse: The Orange (2-4) hold a 15-2 all-time edge over the Bearcats. The two teams last meet in Vestal in 2007, with Syracuse winning 3-0. Junior Sarah Morton will be the player to watch for the Orange, as she is leading the team in kills (2.89/s), hitting percentage (.343) and blocks (1.11/s).

Scouting Appalachian State: This will be the first meeting between the Bearcats and the Mountaineers. Appalachian State is coming off a second place finish in the Southern Conference in 2007 but is off to an 0-6 start this year.

Scouting Virginia: This contest will mark the fourth meeting against an ACC opponent in Binghamton’s program history. Binghamton swept Boston College in 2007 and holds an 0-2 mark against Maryland. The Cavaliers (4-2) top hitter is junior Lauren Dickson (3.00 k/s).

Scouting Virginia Commonwealth: The Rams (3-3) have been paced by Elisa Keuhnel and Ariel Newman who are averaging 2.45 and 2.44 kills per set, respectively. The Bearcats won the only meeting in the series back in 2004.

Mueller named to all-tourney team at Pitt Classic; team goes 1-2
Binghamton posted a 1-2 record at the Pitt Classic this past weekend, getting swept by both Ohio (22-25, 20-25, 8-25) and Pittsburgh (16-25, 23-25, 21-25) on Friday before defeating Eastern Kentucky 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-14) on Saturday. Sophomore setter Lindsey Mueller (West Bend Wis.) was named to the all-tournament team, as she posted 3.11 digs and 7.78 assists per set on the weekend. On the season Mueller ranks second on the team in digs per set (2.67) while also leading the team in assists (9.94/s). Mueller also achieved her first double-double of the year with an 18-assist, 12-dig performance against Pittsburgh.

Notes, Numbers, Trends, Streaks...
Binghamton has played the minimum of 18 sets over its first six matches ... Mueller sits second in the conference rankings in assists per set with 9.94 ... The Bearcats rank second in team assists in the AE at 11.50 per set and are also second in the conference in opponent hitting percentage at a .164 clip.

Bearcats open season by going 2-1 at NAU Invitational
Binghamton opened its 2008 campaign by taking two of three matches at the Northern Arizona Invitational this past weekend. The Bearcats swept both Rutgers and Akron before being stopped by Northern Arizona in straight sets in the tournament finale. Binghamton beat Rutgers on Friday night by scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-11. The Bearcats next wiped out the Zips of Akron on Saturday with scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-21 before falling to Northern Arizona (20-25, 14-25, 21-25).
