Cambridge, Mass. -- Junior hitter Michelle McDonough and junior setter Lindsey Mueller have been chosen as the America East volleyball Player and Setter of the Week, respectively, after helping the Bearcats go 3-0 to claim the Binghamton Invite title this past weekend.
McDonough was named the tournament MVP and posted 4.70 kills and 2.00 digs per set while hitting .315 in ten sets. McDonough had 18 kills in a win over Towson and 19 against Fairleigh Dickinson. This is her fourth career weekly award from the conference and her first of the season.
"Michelle had a tremendous weekend," head coach Glenn Kiriyama said. "She played three solid matches and was consistent in all the games. We've been counting on her to do a lot for us."
Mueller, the conference's leader in assists per set, averaged 12.40 assists this weekend. She dished out 49 against Fairleigh Dickinson and 42 in the win over Cornell. The junior racked up her seventh career AE weekly award, the most ever by an individual volleyball player at Binghamton.
"Lindsey has done a good job this season getting the hitters involved quickly and running the offense," Kiriyama said.
Binghamton will play Army, Iowa and Morgan St. this weekend at the Army Tournament.
