Volleyball With the score tied 14-14 in the first game, the Bearcats went on a 10-2 run to stretch the lead to 24-16. The visiting Great Danes pulled to within 27-24, but Binghamton scored three of the last four points to clinch the game, 30-24. In the second game, Binghamton shot out to a 6-1 lead but Albany fought back to within 14-12. From there, however, the Bearcats went on a 7-1 run to extend its lead to 21-13. The Bearcats were never challenged thereafter, winning 30-24. It appeared as if Albany would force a fourth game, as it held the lead through most of the game and held a 22-20 advantage. Binghamton, however, ripped off eight straight points to take a 28-22 advantage and went on to seal the match. Freshman outside hitter Michelle Heck (Chicago, Ill./ Resurrection) added a team-high 13 kills and eight digs. Sophomore setter Sarah DeClemente (Painted Post, N.Y./ Corning West) tallied 34 assists. For Albany, Fallon Heart led the way with a match-high 14 kills and teammate Alissa Gibbs added 11 kills. Binghamtons next action will be when it travels to the Harvard Tournament next weekend. |
