Binghamton volleyball loses to Appalachian State 3-1

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - Binghamton (3-5) lost a close four-set match against Appalachian State (2-6) 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 25-19, 28-26) at the Marriot Jefferson Cup on Friday afternoon.

"We didn't execute very well especially in critical times of the match," head coach Glenn Kiriyama said. "We are going to have to work through it and get better."

Senior Brianna Strong posted 10 kills and 11 digs and senior Ashley Allen had 10 kills and six blocks.

The Bearcats tallied a season-high 69 digs and had five players racking up double-figure digs. Senior Jaclyn Strader had a match-high 16 digs.

The Mountaineers were led by Lauren Swecker, who posted 17 kills and 14 digs.

Binghamton will continue their weekend with matches tomorrow against Virginia at 1 p.m. and Virginia Commonwealth at 4:30 p.m.
