Immediate Release: September 6, 2008 The Bearcats out hit the Colonels .348 to .035 in the match. "We connected well from the outside and the middle in this match," head coach Glenn Kiriyama said. "It was good to see execution come together like that." The Bearcats held an 11-2 blocking advantage over the Colonels. McDonough and senior Ashley Allen (Mill Creek, Wash.) led a balanced blocking attack with three stuffs apiece. "This was probably our best blocking game," Kiriyama said. "We were also pretty scrappy on defense." Sophomore setter Lindsey Mueller (West Bend, Wis.) paced the Bearcat defense by collecting nine digs, while also handing out 33 assists. Mueller was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts. "Lindsey
set a nice match," Kiriyama said. "She used a lot of
different hitters and used the middle effectively as well. She
did a good job in all the matches this weekend and really put
up some nice balls for our hitters." |
