|Binghamton loses to Hartford in four games|
"We put in a good effort but we made mistakes in our hitting and passing," head coach Glenn Kiriyama said. "We are playing some pretty good competition right now."
Binghamton rallied from 28-26 down in the first game to score the final four points and pull out the 30-28 win. The Hawks, however, got even in the second game, winning 30-25. In the third game, Hartford jumped out to a 10-2 and never looked back, winning 30-20 to push the Bearcats to the brink of elimination. In the final game, Binghamton jumped out to an 8-3 lead, but Hartford chipped away at the deficit and went on to win 30-25.
For Binghamton, junior middle blocker Allison Beard (Elkland, Pa.) posted a team-high 18 kills. Sophomore Jennifer Smith (North Tonawanda, N.Y./ North Tonawanda) had 10 kills and 20 assists. Junior Anne Crocus (Bethlehem, Pa./ Freedom), who leads the America East Conference in blocking, posted a match-high eight total blocks (seven solo, one assisted).
