Box Score

Vestal, N.Y. - Junior hitter
Michelle McDonough tallied a match-high 14 kills at a .522 percentage to lead Binghamton (13-15, 5-5 AE) to a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-14, 25-19) of Hartford (7-20, 0-9 AE).

"We were aggressive tonight," head coach Glenn Kiriyama said. "When we play aggressive, we play a lot better and the team starts to click. [Setter] Lindsey Mueller helped get that going for us."

Mueller dished out 37 assists and scooped up eight digs while senior libero Brianna Strong grabbed a match-high 15 digs.

Junior hitter Anna Lejina contributed 12 kills senior middle Dawn Lammert posted five kills on a .833 hitting percentage.

Hartford was lead by Hallie Fullagar's 12 kills.

Binghamton has completed its conference slate and will clinch an America East playoff berth outright if New Hampshire loses one of its final two matches this weekend.

If UNH were to win out, there would be a four-way tie for second place, involving Binghamton. Tiebreakers would then be used to determine slots 2-5. Only the top four teams make the postseason tournament, which will be held next week in Albany.

Notes: New Hampshire host Stony Brook on Saturday and UMBC on Sunday. Both matches are at 1 p.m. ... Binghamton honored seniors Strong, Lammert and Julia Vint with their parents prior to the match ... McDonough moved past recent grad Jacki Kane into fourth place on the all-time kills list at Binghamton. McDonough now was 1,040 in only three seasons.

Updated 11-15-09:

Binghamton earns No. 3 seed for upcoming AE tournament. Will play No. 2 New Hampshire in semifinals on Friday afternoon in Albany.
