|Volleyball team swept by Iowa at UIC Tournament|
Chicago, Ill.--Renee Hill had a match-high 23 kills, leading Iowa (2-0) to a 30-17, 30-20, 30-28 win over Binghamton (0-4) in the first round of the Illinois-Chicago Tournament on Friday night. The match marked the first time this season that the Bearcats were swept in three games.
"Iowa was quite a bit better and had a lot more height," said Binghamton head coach Glenn Kiriyama. "We also made a few too many errors."
For Binghamton, sophomore middle blocker Anne Crocus, who was named to the Maryland Invitiational all-tournament team last week, had a team-high eight kills and a team-high seven total blocks. Senior setter Amanda Breitfeld tallied 12 assists and junior defensive specialist Shannon Kelly posted a team-high 10 digs.
Binghamton continues play at the Illinois-Chicago tournament on Saturday against the host team at 1:30 p.m. and Buffalo at 5 p.m.
