Binghamton volleyball drops a 3-1 decision to Maine
Bearcats fall to second place in the conference

ORONO, Maine-- The Binghamton (17-11, 9-2 AE) volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Maine (10-11, 7-3 AE) in an America East Conference volleyball match on Sunday at Memorial Gymnasium. Binghamton lost the match 30-24, 23-30, 30-22, 30-26.

Freshman libero Jaclyn Strader (Kettering, Ohio) recorded a match- and season-high 24 digs while junior outside hitter Katie Brody (Vestal, N.Y.) smacked a team-high 18 kills. Junior setter Ashley Meffert (Louisville, Ky.) tallied 41 assists. Meffert and freshman outside hitter Brianna Strong (Elkhart, Ind.) each tallied 15 digs. Sophomores Jacki Kane (Centennial, Colo.) and Kathleen Schauer (Littleton, Colo.) each added 10 kills. Kane also had four blocks.

Maine's Kaili Jordan posted a match-high 20 kills while Lindsay Allman led the Black Bears with 21 digs.

"I thought we played alright," head coach Glenn Kiriyama said. "We did not quite get the kills when we needed them. All but the second game we were trying to catch up."

Binghamton hosts its final regular season match on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the West Gym.
