Meffert named America East Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week

America East Conference Release

VESTAL, N.Y.--Coming off one of her finest weekends in a Bearcat uniform, senior Ashley Meffert (Louisville, Ky.) has been named the America East Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week for Sept. 3-Sept. 10, marking her fourth career honor.

After handing out a total of 125 assists and averaging 3.83 digs per game in three matches over the weekend, Meffert, along with teammate Jacki Kane, was named to the Harvard Invitational All-Tournament Team.

On Friday against the host Crimson, she established new career-highs with 11 kills and 24 digs as well as a match-high 47 assists to register the first triple-double in the program’s Division I tenure. Throughout the five-game match, BU's senior passer demonstrated an uncanny marksmanship, hitting for a career-best .400 while committing just one attack error in the process.

In the Bearcats’ 3-1 victory Saturday afternoon over Rutgers, she registered her fourth double-double of the season with a match-high 47 assists and 16 digs.

A staple at Binghamton's setter position over the last three seasons and already the program's all-time assist per game leader, she currently finds herself only 210 assists shy of equaling Sarah DeClemente '01 for Binghamton's all-time lead.

Meffert and the Binghamton volleyball squad return to action at Cornell's Big Red Invitational on this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16.
