Binghamton volleyball loses to Northern Arizona 3-0
McDonough and Lejina named to all-tournament team

FLAGSTAFF, ARIZ. -- Lexi Sullivan posted a match-high 11 kills in leading Northern Arizona (3-0) over Binghamton (2-1), 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-21) on Saturday evening in the final game of the Hilton Garden Inn/Northern Arizona University Invitational.

The Bearcats took two of three matches in their season-opening tournament.

"We got some things to be proud of but we know we have a lot of things to work on," head coach Glenn Kiriyama said.

Binghamton's offense was led by senior hitter Brianna Strong (Elkhart Ind) who posted a team-high nine kills. Sophomores Anna Lejina (Riga, Latvia) and Michelle McDonough (Orland Hills, Ill.) contributed eight kills apiece. While McDonough also collected six digs.

Sophomore setter Lindsey Mueller (West Bend, Wis.) provided 35 assists and six digs for the Bearcats while senior libero Jaclyn Strader (Kettering, Ohio) collected 11 digs.

Binghamton will next travel to Pittsburgh for the Pitt Classic next weekend. The Bearcats first match of the tournament will be against Ohio at 11 a.m. on Friday.

Notes...Lejina and McDonough were named to the all-tournament team...Lejina finished the three-game tournament averaging 3.78 kills per set while hitting at a .353 percentage...McDonough averaged 3.38 kills and 2.00 digs per set
