|Volleyball is swept by Northeastern|
VESTAL, N.Y. - Visiting Northeastern (17-14, 9-2 AE) posted a 3-0 victory over Binghamton (8-19, 2-8 AE) in an America East Conference match Saturday afternoon at East Gym. The Huskies won 30-24, 30-27, 30-20. Binghamton has now dropped eight straight conference matches after opening up the season at 2-0.
Junior setter Kristin Ursillo handed out 45 assists with four blocks, and Northeastern hit .271 for the match. Freshman hitter Larissa Adomat led the way with 13 kills. Senior hitter Lindsay Wagner added 10 kills.
The Bearcats were led by sophomore Michele Smith (Chicago, Ill./Resurrection), who had 11 kills. Sophomore hitter Jennifer Smith (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) added 10 kills. Sophomore setter Glorimar Ortega (Naranjito, Puerto Rico) collected 32 assists, and sophomore middle hitter Anne Crocus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) contributed nine kills and six blocks. Crocus leads the America East in blocks, and ranks eighth in the country with a 1.57 per-game average.
Binghamton hit just .083 for the match.
"We did some things well today, but Northeastern is a very good team and we were outmanned," BU head coach Glenn Kiriyama said.
The Bearcats hit the road for their final two conference matches of the season, playing Friday, November 15 at Hartford and Saturday, Novebmer 16 at Stony Brook. The team will then close out its season with a non-conference home match against Colgate on Sunday, November 17.
