selected to finish eighth in preseason coaches poll
America East Release
The America East released the annual preseason coaches poll today, and Binghamton was selected to finish eighth in the conference. The Bearcats received a total of 10 votes in the poll. In its first America East campaign last season, Binghamton tied for fifth in what was then a seven-team conference. UMBC will join the conference this season.
Defending conference champion New Hampshire was picked to repeat atop the conference. The Wildcats received 49 votes, including seven of eight first-place votes, to finish just ahead of Northeastern (43 points). Albany, Stony Brook, UMBC, Maine and Hartford rounded out the poll.
Binghamton will open its season on September 5 with three matches at the Syracuse Big Orange Tournament. After competing in five early-season invitationals, the Bearcats open the 14-match conference slate against UMBC on October 7 at 7 p.m. in Baltimore, Md.
