2007 Binghamton Volleyball Season Review

Team Recap

Finished 16-18 overall, 7-5 in America East - 4th Place

- Fourth consecutive trip to America East Tournament. Lost in semifinals to #1 Stony Brook, 1-3

- Won in-season Golden Flash Invitational after posting wins over Canisius, Youngstown State and host Kent St.

- Posted a 6-2 home record, 4-2 vs. AE opponents in the West Gym

- Team carried a 14-match home winning streak into September and a 17-match home conference winning streak into October

- Team had three separate season-high four-game win streaks

- Head coach Glenn Kiriyama won his 100th DI game (105-111 in seven years at DI level)

- Team led conference in total blocks (3.00 b/g) - ranked 30th overall in the nation

- Set team single season record for:
o total attempts - 5,000
o total digs - 2,071
o digs per game - 17.12
o block assists - 620
o blocks per game - 3.00

- Team set two individual match records vs. Kent St. on 9-8-07; most attack attempts (254) and most digs (134)

- Non-conference schedule included four 2007 conference champions and NCAA tournament members:
o Delaware - CAA (L 0-3)
o Liberty - Big South (L 1-3)
o Princeton - Ivy (L 1-3)
o Siena - MAAC (W 3-0)

Individual Recap

- Jacki Kane Sr. MB
o America East first team all-conference for third straight year
o Team MVP and Binghamton University Female Athlete of the Year
o Led AE for 3rd straight year and ranked 14th in the nation in blocks (1.55 b/g)
o Set BU single season record for most block assists (161) and total blocks (186)
o Had four double-doubles on season (kills-blocks)
o Program leader in career total blocks (609) and fourth in kills (1032)
o AE Player of the Week on Sept. 30
o America East Volleyball Scholar Athlete
o America East Woman of the Year finalist

- Kathleen Schauer Sr. OH
o Named to America East Championship All-Tournament team
o Second on team in kills per game (2.64)
o Set individual match record with most kills (29 vs. Kent St. 9-8-07)

- Jaclyn Stader Jr. L
o Set single season records for most total digs (536) and d/g (4.58)
o Led team with 43 service aces
o Set individual match record with 33 digs vs. Kent State on 9-8-07
o Currently sits in second place and only five digs shy of BU career record

- Ashley Allen Jr. OH
o Led team in total kills (315)
o Fourth on team in digs per game (1.98)
o Had three double-doubles (kills-digs)

- Dawn Lammert So. MB
o Ranked second in AE in blocks per game with 1.26
o Led team in hitting percentage (.258)

- Michelle McDonough Fr. OH
o America East all-rookie selection
o AE Rookie of the Week on Oct. 29
o Led team in kills per game (2.66 k/g)
o Had seven double-doubles (kills-digs)

- Lindsey Mueller Fr. S
o America East all-rookie selection
o AE Setter of the Week on Sept. 10 and Rookie of the Week on Oct. 22
o Totaled 40 or more assists 11 times
o Set BU freshman single-season record with 1,226 assists
o posted double-digit digs in 24 matches, finished second on team with 3.40 d/g

- Binghamton put a conference-best-tying 10 Bearcats on the Fall Academic Honor Roll - with five athletes also earning Commissioner's Honor Roll distinction:
