Binghamton volleyball drops road match to Siena 3-0

LOUDONVILLE N.Y. - Junior Burgandy McCurty put down 16 kills to lead Siena (3-8) over Binghamton (4-11) 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-23) at the Alumni Recreation Center on Wednesday evening.

Each set was tightly contested and were each decided by three or points or less.

"We made too many errors and couldn't seem to execute or put the ball away to win the games," head coach Glenn Kiriyama said. "We had some good opportunites but we couldn't convert when we needed to. We need to step up and play better ball especially in the crunch time."

Siena was leading the first set 21-16 before Binghamton fought back to trail by one 23-22 but Siena grabbed the next two points to take the set.

Binghamton held a 20-16 edge in the second frame but Siena fought back on a 9-3 to steal the set.

The final point was of the match was recorded on a McCurty kill to close out the third set with a 25-23 advantage.

Sophomore hitter Michelle McDonough paced the Bearcats with 10 kills and six digs and senior hitter Brianna Strong chipped in with nine kills of her own.

Senior hitter Ashley Allen had five kills to go along with a match-high five blocks.

Reigning America East Setter of the Week Lindsey Mueller dished out a match-high tying 31 assists.

Binghamton will return to campus for the first of a five-match home stand against Robert Morris at 1 p.m on Sunday.
