Binghamton volleyball drops five-set match to Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Sarah Morton posted match-highs of 19 kills and eight blocks to help Syracuse (3-4) rally to overcome Binghamton (3-4) 3-2 (23-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-11) at Manley Field House on Tuesday evening.

The Bearcats jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead but were unable to close out the Orange over the final three sets.

Morton hit at a .471 (19-3-34) clip and teammate Kacie MacTavish contributed 18 kills and 15 digs.

Sophomores Michelle McDonough and Anna Lejina led Binghamton on offense, tallying 16 and 15 kills, respectively.

Senior hitter Brianna Strong played a solid all-around game for the Bearcats, coming up with 11 kills and a match-high of 18 digs.

Sophomore setter Lindsey Mueller posted her second double-double of the season with 46 assists and 10 digs and junior middle Dawn Lammert finished the night with a team-high 5 blocks, including two solo stuffs.

Binghamton will next travel to the University of Virginia's Marriot Jefferson Cup for three matches this weekend.
