VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Binghamton volleyball team (5-9) takes the shortest trip of their non-conference schedule Wednesday evening, visiting the Syracuse Orange (17-1). The match up with Syracuse is BU's final match before conference play begins. Binghamton has never beaten Syracuse as a Division I program. The Orange is riding a nine-game winning streak over the Bearcats.
Binghamton defeated the Siena Saints last Wednesday in straight sets. BU played one of their best overall matches of the season, holding Siena to just a .044 hitting percentage. The Bearcats were consistent throughout the match committing just one ball handling error and 13 attack errors. Minimizing the mistakes were key to BU's victory over Siena and continuing that trend will be imperative as they face a confident Syracuse team.
Syracuse is coming off their first loss of the season after falling to South Florida in five sets. During the Orange's 17 game winning-streak they defeated Buffalo, Stony Brook, Niagara and Georgetown, all BU opponents this season.
Binghamton is 1-1 against Big East opponents this season. BU earned a straight set victory over St. John's at the UB Blue and White Classic while being swept by Georgetown at their host tournament.
