| Volleyball drops three close matches at Maryland Invitational |

Box Score College Park, Md.-The Binghamton University volleyball lost three close matches this past weekend at the Maryland Invitational. On Friday, the Bearcats lost to UMBC 30-26, 27-30, 30-17, 36-34. The following day, Binghamton lost to the host Terrapins 30-20, 30-18, 28-30, 30-18 and to George Washington 28-30, 30-18, 30-20, 27-30, 15-11. Sophomore middle blocker Anne Crocus (Bethlehem, Pa./ Freedom) was named to the all-tournament team. Crocus had 15 kills and a tournament-high 11 blocks against George Washington. Other weekend highlights for Binghamton included junior middle blocker Allison Beard (Elkland, Pa.), who had 10 kills and 16 digs against UMBC and 14 kills against George Washington, sophomore outside hitter Michele Heck (Chicago, Ill./ Ressurection) who nailed 16 kills against Maryland and 12 against UMBC, and sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Smith (North Tonawanda, N.Y./ North Tonawanda), who had 10 kills against both UMBC and Maryland, as well as 14 kills against George Washington. Binghamton travels next weekend to the Illinois-Chicago Tournament. |
