Box Score

FULLERTON, Calif.- The Binghamton University volleyball team dropped a five-game 31-33, 28-30, 30-27, 30-23, 15-8 decision to Weber State in its tournament finale at the Four Points Classic Saturday evening. The Bearcats concluded their final day of competition with an 0-2 mark, finishing 0-3 overall on the weekend. Earlier Saturday, the Bearcats fell in their first match of the day to the College of Charleston 3-0 (30-16, 30-18, 30-24).

The Bearcats came out of the gate strong capturing two very competitive games to open Saturday's nightcap. BU, however, struggled to put away its Big Sky counterparts, as the Wildcats came charging back to tie the match at two games apiece and then caught fire in the decisive fifth game, hitting .292 to secure the come from behind victory.

"It was a close match throughout. We fought hard, but just couldn't get the breaks to go our way in the end," said head coach Glenn Kiriyama. "I didn't think we played as well as we could have this weekend, but hopefully we will continue to learn and to improve as the season progresses."

Freshman Caitlyn Anderson led Weber State with a match-high 22 kills and hit .246. She also recorded 18 digs.

Once again the Bearcats' attack was led by senior Megan Hoag (Brunswick, Ohio). Hoag led BU with a career-high 19 kills and a match-best .325 hitting percentage. Junior Jacki Kane (Centennial, Colo.) added 16 kills and three blocks. Fellow upperclassmen Katie Robertson (Ancaster, Ontario) and Kathleen Schauer (Littleton, Colo.) also hit in double-figures, with 11 kills apiece.

Weber State improved to 4-5 on the season while Binghamton falls to 1-6.

Binghamton returns to the East Coast next weekend where they will compete in Cambridge, Mass. at the Harvard Invitational. BU will take on the host Crimson on Friday and both Long Island and Rutgers on Saturday afternoon.
