Naglieri (sports@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-2956 Volleyball tops host Canisius in four-game match Bearcats win second straight to move to 2-2 Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Senior Jacki Kane (Centennial, Colo.) and junior Ashley Allen (Mill Creek, Wash.) combined for 21 kills and sophomore Dawn Lammert (Sussex, Wisc.) added a career-high nine blocks as the Binghamton University volleyball team posted a four-game win (30-13, 30-24, 28-30, 30-20) over host Canisius Friday evening at the Western New York Invitational. The Bearcats got off to a red-hot start in the opening game. Leading 9-7, BU used a 14-2 rally to break things open and cruised to a 30-13 win. Binghamton The Bearcats led from wire-to-wire as they calmly chalked up a 30-24 game two win and a 2-0 match lead. After dropping a 30-28 decision in game three, BU responded, leading the entire way en route to a 30-20 win and its second straight match victory. Freshman Lindsey Mueller (West Bend,Wi.) contirbuted a match-high assists and 13 digs and junior Jaclyn Strader (Kettering, Ohio) chipped in with a team-high 20 digs. The Bearcats take on a pair of formidable, first-time opponents in Valparaiso and the University of Wilsconsin-Milwaukee on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. respectively. Game Notes: Binghamton now leads the all-time series 5-3. The two teams will square off again next Friday at the Kent State Invitational in Ohio. |
