Volleyball team loses season opener to Buffalo 30-26, 30-25, 31-29

BUFFALO, N.Y.--Binghamton lost its season-opening match to Buffalo in three straight games at the Western New York Tournament on Friday night at Canisius University. The scores were 30-26, 30-25, 31-29

Binghamton was led by senior Jen Smith (North Tonawanda, N.Y./ North Tonawanda), who posted a team-high eight kills, and sophomore setter Ashley Meffert (Louisville, Ky./Fern Creek), who posted a double-double with 10 digs and 29 assists.

Binghamton faces Canisius at 1 p.m. and Niagara at 7 p.m. in day two of the Western New York Tournament on Saturday.
