Women's basketball to open season at St. Bonaventure on Nov. 14

Complete Non-Conference Schedule

VESTAL, N.Y.--The Binghamton athletic department has released the non-conference portion of its 2008-09 women's basketball schedule and the Bearcats launch their season on Friday, Nov. 14 at St. Bonaventure. Also on the schedule are first-time opponents Miami (Fla.), Niagara and Bryant.

Binghamton's Dec. 13 game at Miami marks the first time that the women's basketball team squares off against a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Bearcats also travel to Niagara on Dec. 1 and host Bryant on Nov. 23.

Other home games come against Portland State (Nov. 21), Duquesne (Nov. 25), Canisius (Nov. 29) and Villanova (7 p.m.). Binghamton faced all four opponents on the road last year.

Following its season opener against the Bonnies, Binghamton heads to Colgate for a Nov. 19 game. Other road games are against La Salle (Dec. 6), Lehigh (Dec. 20), Sacred Heart (Dec. 30) and Cornell (Jan. 5).

"We are looking forward once again to a tough non-conference schedule," first-year head coach Nicole Scholl said. " We have a good mix of competition that will help us to prepare for an always challenging America East Conference season. Niagara and Miami are new to the schedule this year and we are excited to host Villanova once again as well as Portland State from the West Coast"

The America East Conference portion of the schedule will be release in September.
