women's basketball announces 2010 signings
VESTAL, N.Y.-- The Binghamton
University women's basketball team has announced the signing
of three high school standouts and one transfer player. All of
them will join the program this coming fall.
Kyra Aloizos (Ardsley, N.Y.) is a 6-1 post player from
Archbishop Molloy High School. As a senior, she averaged 14.0
points and 11.0 rebounds while playing in one of the toughest
leagues in the nation (Brooklyn /Queens CHSAA Div 1 AA). She
was named a third-team all-state selection by the New York State
Sportswriters' Association (NYSSWA).
Jasbriell Swain (Horn Lake, Miss.) is a 5-9 guard from
Horn Lake High School. As a senior, she led her squad to the
Mississippi Class 6A state championship and was named the tournament
MVP. Swain was also tabbed first-team all-state at the conclusion
of the season.
Emilie Vachon (Ottawa, Ontario) is a 5-9 guard from Louis-Riel
High School. As a senior, she averaged 13.5 points, 7.2 rebounds,
4.0 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She was a two-time team
MVP and was the squad's captain for most of her high school career.
Mallory Lawes (Elmira, N.Y.) is a 5-5 guard who just completed
her sophomore season at Loyola (Md.) University. This past year,
she was named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC)
All Academic Team. Lawes will sit out the 2010-11 season in accordance
with NCAA rules for transfer players and will have two years
of eligibility remaining.
"We have a very talented class coming in that will add to
the depth of our team," head coach Nicole Scholl said. "They
are a dynamic group and Im looking forward to seeing what
they will provide for the upcoming season."
