Binghamton women's basketball announces 2010 signings

VESTAL, N.Y.-- The Binghamton University women's basketball team has announced the signing of three high school standouts and one transfer player. All of them will join the program this coming fall.

Kyra Aloizos (Ardsley, N.Y.) is a 6-1 post player from Archbishop Molloy High School. As a senior, she averaged 14.0 points and 11.0 rebounds while playing in one of the toughest leagues in the nation (Brooklyn /Queens CHSAA Div 1 AA). She was named a third-team all-state selection by the New York State Sportswriters' Association (NYSSWA).

Jasbriell Swain (Horn Lake, Miss.) is a 5-9 guard from Horn Lake High School. As a senior, she led her squad to the Mississippi Class 6A state championship and was named the tournament MVP. Swain was also tabbed first-team all-state at the conclusion of the season.

Emilie Vachon (Ottawa, Ontario) is a 5-9 guard from Louis-Riel High School. As a senior, she averaged 13.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She was a two-time team MVP and was the squad's captain for most of her high school career.

Mallory Lawes (Elmira, N.Y.) is a 5-5 guard who just completed her sophomore season at Loyola (Md.) University. This past year, she was named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All Academic Team. Lawes will sit out the 2010-11 season in accordance with NCAA rules for transfer players and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

"We have a very talented class coming in that will add to the depth of our team," head coach Nicole Scholl said. "They are a dynamic group and I’m looking forward to seeing what they will provide for the upcoming season."
