America East Release

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Sophomore point guard Andrea Holmes and senior guard Erica Carter have each been named second team America East All-Conference. The results of the voting, which was done by the nine conference coaches, were announced Thursday afternoon.

After being named to the third team last season (in addition to earning Rookie of the Year honors), Holmes ranked ninth in the conference in scoring this year (13.0 ppg.) and third in assists (4.8 apg.). She reached the 20-point mark in scoring seven times, finished in double figures in assists twice and in rebounding once.

"Andrea really stepped up her game this season in scoring, rebounds and assists," head coach Nicole Scholl said. "Where she improved the most this season, however, was in her leadership."

Carter, meanwhile, earned all conference honors for the first time in her career. She led the Bearcats and ranked seventh in the America East this season with 13.2 points per game. Carter also ranked first in the conference with a .476 three-point field goal percentage and 3.4 three-point field goals per game.

"Erica has been a major contributor to our program and this is a great honor for her," School said. "She had a breakout season (in terms of her) three-point shooting and has been consistent for us all season."

Binghamton (11-18, 7-9 AE) is the No. 5 seed at the America East Tournament. The Bearcats face No. 4 Stony Brook in the quarterfinal round on Friday at 8:15 p.m.
