For Immediate Release: December 18, 2006 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Carter named America East Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week VESTAL, N.Y.-- Freshman guard Erica Carter (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) has been named the America East Conference Rookie of the Week for Dec. 11-17. It marks the first time in her career that she has received a weekly accolade. Carter drained a game -high and career-high 16 points in Binghamton's 79-54 win over Colgate on Saturday. She sank all four of her three-point field goal attempts. Since moving into the starting lineup three games ago, Carter has averaged 8.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. "Erica had a breakout game against Colgate and is very deserving of this award," head coach Rich Conover said. "Hopefully she can continue to play well and lead us to more victories. Binghamton (3-7) heads to Bucknell on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game.
