women's basketball topples Fordham 49-45
BRONX, N.Y.-- Sophomore forward
Rebane scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds leading Binghamton
(3-8) to a win over Fordham (6-6) in a non-conference women's
basketball game on Monday night at the Rose Hill Gymnasium.
After trailing 22-13 Binghamton finished the half on a 5-0 run
to pull within four at halftime. The Bearcats carried the momentum
into the second half and tied the game at 30 apiece off a three-pointer
by junior guard Jackie
Ward at the 13:23 mark. However, the Rams answered with a
quick three from Becky Peters and subsequently went on a 10-2
to push the lead to eight and the score to 40-32.
The Bearcats mounted another
run, and tied the game with three from sophomore point guard
Holmes with 3:21 left in the second half. After a Fordham
timeout, Peters answered again and broke the tie with a three-pointer
to reclaim the lead 45-42, however that would be the last bucket
of the game for Fordham.
Ward knotted the game with
a three, and after a jumper from senior forward Theodora
Panteli, Rebane iced the game with a pair of free throws.
Four Bearcats reached doubles figures for the Bearcats as Rebane
scored 12, Ward added 11 and Holmes and Panteli each dropped
Becky Peters scored a game-high 14 points for the Ram's before
fouling out with 1:14 left in the game.
Binghamton will compete in second game of the Fordham Holiday
Classic tomorrow against East Carolina beginning at 3 p.m.
