Binghamton women's basketball topples Fordham 49-45

Box Score

BRONX, N.Y.-- Sophomore forward Vive Rebane scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds leading Binghamton (3-8) to a win over Fordham (6-6) in a non-conference women's basketball game on Monday night at the Rose Hill Gymnasium.

After trailing 22-13 Binghamton finished the half on a 5-0 run to pull within four at halftime. The Bearcats carried the momentum into the second half and tied the game at 30 apiece off a three-pointer by junior guard Jackie Ward at the 13:23 mark. However, the Rams answered with a quick three from Becky Peters and subsequently went on a 10-2 to push the lead to eight and the score to 40-32.

The Bearcats mounted another run, and tied the game with three from sophomore point guard Andrea Holmes with 3:21 left in the second half. After a Fordham timeout, Peters answered again and broke the tie with a three-pointer to reclaim the lead 45-42, however that would be the last bucket of the game for Fordham.

Ward knotted the game with a three, and after a jumper from senior forward Theodora Panteli, Rebane iced the game with a pair of free throws.

Four Bearcats reached doubles figures for the Bearcats as Rebane scored 12, Ward added 11 and Holmes and Panteli each dropped 10.

Becky Peters scored a game-high 14 points for the Ram's before fouling out with 1:14 left in the game.

Binghamton will compete in second game of the Fordham Holiday Classic tomorrow against East Carolina beginning at 3 p.m.
