VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's basketball put 12 of 13 players in the scoring column and stretched a 10-point halftime lead to pull away from visiting Le Moyne, 75-45, in an exhibition game Tuesday night at West Gym.
Sophomore guard Jen Blues (Overland Park, Kan.) led all scorers with 18 points in just 19 minutes of action. Blues hit on 7-of-13 shots, and also collected a team-high four steals. Six-foot-two junior center Kristin Hibler (Hutchinson, Kan.) scored 10 points, and sophomore guard Rachel Laws (Wyncote, Pa.) and freshman guard Rebecka Lindgren (Oskarshamn, Sweden) added eight points apiece. As a team, BU nailed 9-of-17 three-pointers, and on the defensive end, forced 30 Dolphins turnovers.
"I was very pleased with the effort in our first appearance on the floor this season," head coach Rich Conover said. "The players had a lot of energy and intensity and carried it out for 40 minutes. I'm pleased that a nice crowd saw a good effort."
Up 44-35 with 14:12 remaining, BU went on a decisive 21-6 run tha featured back-to-back three-pointers from Lindgren, and six points from Blues. The Bearcats outscored Le Moyne 31-10 to end the game.
Le Moyne received 11 points from sophomore guard Katie Kramer (Oneida, N.Y.).
Binghamton opens its regular-season with a home game against Syracuse on November 22.
