Binghamton women's basketball opens season Nov. 13 against St. Bonaventure

Complete Non-Conference Schedule

VESTAL, N.Y.-- The Binghamton women's basketball program has released the non-conference portion of its 2009-10 schedule, which has the Bearcats opening up with a home game against St. Bonaventure on Friday, Nov. 13 at the Events Center. The game against the Bonnies, which tips off at 7 p.m., marks the beginning of Binghamton's ninth season at the NCAA Division I level and also as a member of the America East Conference.

Binghamton faces three non-conference opponents which advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. Lehigh arrives at the Events Center for a Nov. 24 contest while Sacred Heart comes to town for a Dec. 21 game. The Bearcats travel to Villanova on Dec. 11. St. Bonaventure, meanwhile, advanced to the WNIT last year, as did Syracuse, which hosts Binghamton on Nov. 22.

The Bearcats have three Big East opponents on their non-conference schedule this season. In addition to Villanova and Syracuse, Miami comes to Binghamton on Dec. 19.

"We have a very challenging non-conference schedule this year," second-year head coach Nicole Scholl said. "We have five teams that advanced to postseason play and three Big East teams. For us, the non-conference schedule will be great preparation for the America East Conference."

Binghamton travels to its first in-season tournament since 2006 when it takes part in the Fordham Holiday Classic Dec. 28-29. The Bearcats square off against Fordham on the first day before battling East Carolina on the final day.

Other home games for the Bearcats come against Niagara (Dec. 5) and Cornell (Jan. 4). On the road, Binghamton also squares off against Siena (Nov. 18), Canisius (Nov. 28) and Bryant (Dec. 7).

Binghamton returns four starters and 10 letterwinners from last season's squad which went 14-17 but advanced to the America East semifinals for the third time in four years. Current sophomore point guard Andrea Holmes was named the 2009 America East Rookie of the Year and also earned third-time all-conference honors. Current sophomore forward Viive Rebane joined Holmes on the America East All-Rookie Team last year.

Individual game tickets will go on sale online and at the Events Center Box Office on Monday, Nov 2. Tickets can be purchased through the Binghamton Athletic Website ( or by calling the Events Center Box Office at (607) 777-6004.

The America East Conference portion of the 2009-10 schedule will be released at a later date.
