Women's basketball
loses 58-53 at St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y.-- Sophomore forward
Dana Mitchell finished with a game-high 22 points, leading unbeaten
St. Bonaventure (4-0) to a 58-53 win over Binghamton (0-2) in
a non-conference women's basketball game at the Elmira BC Arena
on Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats have now lost their first
two games by a combined total of just seven points.
Senior guard Laura
Sario (Espoo, Finland) netted a game-high 13 points for the4
Bearcats while junior forward Laura
Franceski (Moscow, Pa.) chipped in 12 points.
The Bonnies took a 31-16 halftime advantage but the Bearcats
clawed to within 45-41 on a layup by Franceski with 4:53 remaining
in regulation. It was a 5-0 swing in a span of 1:06, however,
that gave St. Bonaventure a 57-47 cushion with 44 seconds left
to go.
Binghamton heads to Canisius
for a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday.
NOTES: Saturday's game marked a reunion between Binghamton
and former standout Sarah Cartmill, who is now an assistant coach
with the Bonnies. The 2002 America East Conference Player of
the Year, Cartmill ranks second all time in Binghamton history
with 1,836 career points. |
