VESTAL, N.Y.-- Jessica Jenkins scored a game-high 22 points, leading St. Bonaventure (1-0) to a 62-59 win over Binghamton (0-1) in a women's basketball game on Friday night at the Reilly Center. The game marked the start of the Bearcats' 10th season as a NCAA Division I program and as a member of the America East Conference.

"I thought our focus was fantatisc tonight," head coach Nicole Scholl said. "St Bonaventure plays great defense and some early turnovers hurt us but we gave it a great effort against a very good team."

Binghamton forced overtime when freshman guard Jasbriell Swain, who finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, nailed a three pointer with 1:25 left in regulation. The two squads were scoreless for the rest of the second half.

In the extra session, Binghamton was down 60-56, but pulled to within a single point as junior point guard Andrea Holmes drained a three pointer with 16 seconds left. The Bearcats were forced to foul Jenkins on the inbounds play and she converted both of her free throw attempts. Junior guard Orla O'Reilly attempted a three pointer at the buzzer but it went off the backboard.

Holmes finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Junior Viive Rebane had 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks while Kara Elofson chipped in 11 points.
