Binghamton women's basketball defeats Stony Brook 59-35

VESTAL, N.Y. - Senior forward Juta Jahilo (Helsinki, Finland) netted a team-high 11 points and sophomore guard Erica Carter (Naperville, Ill.) added 10 points, pacing Binghamton (6-12, 4-1 AE) to a 59-35 win over Stony Brook (6-12, 1-4 AE) in an America East Conference women's basketball game at the Events Center on Saturday. The victory is the third straight at home for the Bearcats.

Jahilo had eight points in the first half and Cater chipped in seven points as the Bearcats jumped out to a 30-15 lead at the break. In the first 7:18 of the second half, Binghamton failed to score a point and the Seawolves closed to within 30-20. From there, however, the Bearcats went on a 22-5 run to take a 53-25 lead with 4:06 left to go.

Kairsten Nunn of Stony Brook tied Jahilo for the game high with 11 points.

Junior forward Laura Franceski (Moscow, Pa.) added nine points five rebounds and five blocks for Binghamton. It marked the third time this season and seventh time in her career that she has recorded at least five blocks in a game.

Binghamton heads to Albany on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.

NOTES: Nunn and Jahilo were named the America East Players of the Game.
