Binghamton women's basketball adds pair of forwards for upcoming season

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton University women's basketball team has announced the signing of two forwards, both of whom will join the squad for the 2007-08 season.

Theodora Panteli (Athens, Greece) is an incoming 6-0 sophomore from Jacksonville (Texas) College. In her freshman season, she averaged 11.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Panteli was also a member of the Greece Under-20 team in 2006 and the Under-18 team in 2005.

"Theodora brings a wealth of experience to our program," head coach Rich Conover said. "She has excellent ball handling and rebounding skills and has been through the rigors of both the college and international game. She will be a welcome addition to our team."

Jaki Goldner (Katonah, N.Y.) is an incoming 6-2 freshman from Somers High School. She was a fourth-team Class A all-state selection her senior season as she averaged 21.3 points per game. In addition, Goldner was a three-time Sectional All Star and concluded her career with over 1,300 points.

"Jaki brings size and versatility to our team," Conover said. "She can score both inside and outside and is a very hard worker. She has the potential to have an outstanding career."

Binghamton has now signed four new players for the upcoming season. During the early signing period in the fall, foward Bobbi Van Fleet (Edison, N.J.) and guard Jackie Ward (Pittsford, N.Y.) both signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Bearcats for their freshman year this coming fall.

"With our four incoming players, we have addressed several needs," Conover said. "They bring size, strength and athleticism to a veteran program and will give us a deep team this coming year.

Binghamton went 12-19 (7-9 AE) during the 2006-07 season. The Bearcats placed fourth in the America East Conference and advanced to the conference tournament semifinals for the second straight season. The 2007-08 season opens on Nov. 10 with a 2 p.m. PST (5 p.m. EST) contest at Portland State.
