women's basketball loses 76-43 to defending AE champion Vermont

BURLINGTON, VT.-- Senior guard
May Kotsopoulos had a game-high 22 points and junior forward
Tonya Young added 15 points, leading Vermont (14-3, 4-0 AE) to
a 76-43 win over Binghamton (5-11, 1-2 AE) in an America East
women's basketball game on Wednesday evening at Patrick Gym.
The loss came against a Catamount squad that is the defending
conference champion and is receiving votes in the AP Top 25 poll
for the second week in a row.
Vermont set the tone in the opening four minutes, going up 17-0.
Kotsopoulos, who came into the game leading the America East
in scoring (18.3 ppg.), had six of her points during that run.
From there, the Catamounts crusied to a 41-23 lead at the break.
Binghamton was within 46-30 at the 15:35 mark of the second half
but Vermont went on a 15-3 run in the ensuing six minutes to
take a 61-33 lead. Kotsopoulos had nine points during that span.
Sophomore guard Orla
O'Reilly came off the bench to lead the Bearcats with 11
points. Senior forward Theodora
Panteli grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, amrking the third
time this season she has reached double figures in rebounds.
Binghamton returns home for a noon game on Saturday against Hartford.
