Binghamton women's lacrosse team inks seven high school standouts

VESTAL, N.Y.--The Binghamton women's lacrosse team has announced the signing of seven high school seniors, each of whom has returned a National Letter of Intent. All seven players will begin their freshman seasons with the Bearcats next spring.

"I am extremely excited about this year's recruiting class," head coach Emily Edmonston said. " The incoming student-athletes will bring a hard-working mentality to our program from their experience on traditionally competitive high school programs. Most importantly, this class will add much depth and versatility to every position. Without a doubt, this incoming class will make an immediate impact on the program."

Kelsey Pieper (Rensselaer, N.Y.) is a midfielder from Columbia High School. She has led her team in scoring the past two seasons and was a 2004 Section 2 Suburban Council All-Star.

Brady Halbert (Keuka Park, N.Y.) is an attacker from Penn Yan Academy. She is a two-team Rochester All-Star and helped led her squad to the 2004 New York State Championship.

Lindsay Feller (Mahopac, N.Y.) is a attacker from Lakeland High School. In 2004, she scored 40 goals and tallied 34 assists. In addition, she was also a member of the New York National Team.

Carolyn Cuneo (East Northport, N.Y.) is a goalie from Northport High School. This season, she has been the 12th-ranked goalie in the state of New York and the 35th-ranked goalie in the nation. As a junior, she led her team to the Section 11 Long Island Championship.

Kim Delperuto (Syracuse, N.Y.) is a defender from West Genesee High School. As a senior, she has led her team in ground balls and has been among the team leaders in caused turnovers and clears. As a junior, she was named second-team all-league.

Kara Slowik (Warners, N.Y.) is a defender from West Genesee High School. In her junior season, she was named Section 3 All Central New York (CNY) honorable mention.

Julia Demuth (Jordan, N.Y.) is a midfielder from Jordan-Elbridge High School. In 2003, she was named all-league Section 3 honorable mention. The following year, she was named second team all-league Section 3. So far this season, she has 50 goals, 8 assists.

Binghamton finished the 2005 campaign with a 4-12 record in Edmonston's first season as head coach. The Bearcats have been an intercollegiate women's lacrosse team since the 2002 season.
